In “Clash of the Titans: Values Versus Performance,” appears in the current volume of the OD Practitioner, Ken Hultman argues that individuals and organizations are better off when values and performance goals mesh and that--despite perceptions--they usually aren’t at odds. This line of reasoning seems particular appropriate in the nonprofit sector where so many people make career decision based on personal values. Interestingly, the article finds that one recurrent theme in existing studies on high-performing organizations is the importance of learning.
